About SOSJ

Our Mission

The Sons of Saint Joseph seek to integrate the eternal Truths of Jesus Christ taught through His Holy Roman Catholic Church into our lives and relationships; firstly through the study and imitation of Him, as He is the ultimate source and archetype of all masculinity, and secondly in our aid to one another in solidarity as men of faith.  Grace builds upon nature, thus true masculinity requires greater intimacy with our Lord through the sacraments and through a life of virtue and self-sacrifice as we grow in personal holiness, in fellowship with one another, and in fidelity to our own individual missions in life.  Christ’s goals must be our goals, namely our own salvation and the salvation of our loved ones and of the whole world.

What To Expect

SOSJ meet weekly on Saturdays in the Parish Center for a morning filled with faith, fellowship, and fresh bagels! There is a theme to each week with readings and questions to guide our conversations.

  • 6:05am – Mass in the adoration chapel
  • 6:30am – bagels and coffee in downstairs in parish center
  • 6:45am – adoration and reflection
  • 7:30am – small group discussion

The hardest part is showing up the first time. Come join us!

SOSJ on At Home With Jim & Joy

Fr. Brian Gannon sits down with Jim and Joy Pinto from “At Home With Jim And Joy” on EWTN. Watch to hear Fr. Gannon in his own words discuss our Sons of Saint Joseph mens group, and helping men grow in holiness and become stronger in their Faith so that they can be better husbands, fathers, sons, and brothers.

SOSJ Through The Years

In Our Own Words

In the words of our own members, below is a talk given by one of our members about his experience in SOSJ.

“This organization is committed to helping men become better husbands, fathers, friends and neighbors. It steers a man towards his God ordained and natural roles as exemplified by Jesus Christ. It focuses a man on the true and ultimate goals of his life, which are his salvation, the salvation of his loved ones and the salvation of the world. It is local, free of charge, and meets on a weekly basis. Its mission is to bring men closer to God.

In the group discussions I often find out that many of my problems and trials are experienced by others. I draw strength from this. I also obtain some great ideas on how to apply what I have learned to my life. With this new knowledge and strengthened spirit I have slowly begun to transform my overall self, through Christ, into a better person and spiritual leader of my family.”

What We Are Not

Still on the fence? It’s ok. We’ve all been in your shoes. We collected some of our own members thoughts from before we showed up for our first meeting and discuss them below.

This is probably a group of Holier Than Thou Bible Thumpers.

Absolutely not! We are a group of normal, everyday men that come from all walks of life. Some are blue collar, some white collar. Some are married, some single. Some are older, some younger. What we all have in common is that each of us wants to grow in our spiritual life and come closer to Christ through prayer, education and self-sacrifice.

I don’t know enough. I’m afraid I’ll embarrass myself.

It’s ok! Everyone is here to learn. Spiritual development is designed for anyone and everyone. Our conversations meet you where you are and welcome you to ask questions and learn new things or share your expertise on a topic. Persons with any and all levels of spiritual knowledge are welcome.

This will take up too much of my time.

Not true! You can devote as much time as you want, week to week. On most Saturdays, we start at 6:05am with Mass. You are out by about 8:00am. Actually, with the early start many of us find that we have more time for our family on Saturdays. As we began developing spiritually, we also found that we had more energy during week and a better overall attitude in all of our relationships. Many weeks we feel our sessions are too short and we look forward to getting together each week.

I am an outsider and I wont fit in.

False! This is one of the nicest groups of gentlemen many of us have ever been involved with. We can assure you, that after a few weeks you will feel like one of the guys; and after a few months you will feel like you have a second family.
